The
Mystic Dancers

Shireem and Sheena

I have always loved ethnic dance, particularly bellydance and Polynesian dance. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of me losing myself in dance. My first lessons were at the local junior college over twenty years ago. At first, my daughter Susan was so embarrassed that she would hide on the floor of the car if I was driving in costume (even with my cover-up!)
As a teenager, Susan finally started taking a few classes with me. One day, as a special favor, she reluctantly did a bellygram to help me out of a pinch. She loved it! She's been hooked ever since. (Of course it didn't hurt to have a boyfriend, now her husband, to encourage her to dance. He is still very supportive.)
Susan, now Sheena, is an integral part of teaching classes, taking bookings and performing. Now Sheena's children, ages 8 and 5, think all mothers and grandmothers dance. They are absorbing the art form. Sheena even performs for her children's school. So she is able to be a full-time mom and dancer.
